HIP & KNEE CONDITIONS

From arthritis to problems after joint replacement, explore the hip and knee conditions Mr Oni treats. Whether you are living with persistent pain or simply trying to understand your symptoms, this is the right place to start.

Diagnosis & care

Understanding your hip or knee condition before any treatment

Patients often arrive uncertain about what's causing their pain. Mr Oni's first priority is an accurate diagnosis, reviewing your symptoms, imaging and history, before any treatment is discussed. Not every hip or knee problem needs surgery. Many conditions respond well to conservative management, injection therapy or guided physiotherapy.

Hip conditions

hip pain & hip Problems

Pain in the hip or groin is one of the most common reasons patients seek Mr Oni's help, and the cause isn't always obvious. It might be arthritis, a soft-tissue problem such as bursitis, or pain following a previous hip replacement. An accurate diagnosis comes first, so the right treatment can follow. Hip treatments range from physio, to hip replacement or hip revision surgery depending on the formal diagnosis.

Pain Following Hip Replacement

Lingering or new pain after a hip replacement, in the groin, thigh or buttock. There is usually a treatable reason, and most cases do not need further surgery.

knee conditioNS

knee pain & knee problems

Knee pain has many possible causes, and the right treatment depends entirely on getting the diagnosis right. It might be arthritis, a torn meniscus, a knee that catches or locks, a joint that feels unstable, or pain around the kneecap. Mr Oni identifies what's actually going on first, so the right treatment can follow. Treatments can range from physio and arthrosamid injections to keyhole knee surgery or a knee replacement.

Mr Oni explained everything clearly and the whole process was faultless. I was walking the corridors within two days and driving again in a fortnight. The scar is so neat you can hardly see it.

Mr Oni and the team were very professional throughout. The recovery was tough, but I stuck to the exercises and only needed over-the-counter painkillers. Two months on, I completed a nine-mile bike ride.

Mr Oni recommended the Arthrosamid injection and everything has been brilliant. Two weeks later I was rotovating the garden for two hours. It felt like some sort of miracle, I didn't notice I'd had bad knees.

Frequently asked questions

Pain that disturbs your sleep, limits everyday activities like walking or stairs, or has not settled after a few weeks of rest and simple measures is worth having assessed. You do not need a diagnosis first. Mr Oni will examine the joint and explain what is causing your symptoms and whether anything needs to be done.

Yes. Arthritis is common, but hip and knee pain can also come from soft-tissue problems such as bursitis, cartilage or meniscal injuries, instability, or pain referred from elsewhere. This is why an accurate diagnosis comes first, so the right treatment can follow.

It can. Pain felt around the hip, buttock or thigh sometimes originates in the lower back or spine rather than the hip joint itself. Part of Mr Oni's assessment is identifying exactly where your pain is coming from, so you are directed to the right care from the start.

Many aches settle on their own, and surgery is rarely the first step. But pain that is persistent, worsening, or affecting your sleep and daily life is worth assessing sooner, simply because earlier advice usually means more treatment options. Being seen early does not commit you to anything.

Mr Oni takes time to understand how your hip or knee is affecting you, examines the joint, and reviews any scans or X-rays you already have. He then explains what is causing your pain and sets out the sensible options, from non-surgical care to surgery, so any decision is yours to make.

No. You are welcome to bring any imaging you already have, but it is not required. If a scan or X-ray is needed to confirm the diagnosis, Mr Oni will arrange the right one at your appointment.
